I had my first driving lesson 20 years ago, I’ve had many over the last 20 years but my anxiety (and ADHD) always left me dropping the lessons and content not driving. A combination of poor confidence and incompatible driving instructors left me frustrated and discouraged.
John was recommended on Facebook and at first contact he was inquisitive, bright and friendly.
John had a lot to unpick with my driving, I’m self critical to a fault, albeit stubborn and my own inquisitiveness has always been misunderstood as questioning or disobedience. I’m very fortunate to have found someone that, finally, took the time needed to understood the reasoning behind my incessant questions and give me the answers I needed.
John actually took the time to understand my fears and my own personal challenges regarding driving. He took each lesson on its own merit and worked with me to tame my extreme aversion to driving, particularly reversing.
He had to work with me to tackle a lot of mental blocks and blanks in order to unlock a sense of calm in driving.
I went from dreading my lessons to (apprehensively) looking forward to them.
Passing my test (yesterday) has truly changed my life, I categorically would not have achieved this without John’s support.
If you can see past the terrible sense of humour and don’t mind the sight of cookies then you’ll be fine with John!
I cannot recommend John highly enough, if you’ve struggled, if you’re unsure, if you have anxiety or ADHD or autism please give John a try, I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
